FlevolandCharacteristics of Flevoland

The youngest province of Holland is formed by "new land", conquered on the sea in the 40's, 50's and 60's. When you enter this new land the difference with the surrounding country is evident: the farms are large and far apart, the roads straight (and we think it is boring).

But then again, you don't cycle at what used to be the bottom of the sea every day. It's a special feeling that where you are cycling now not so long ago ships were sailing!

Schokland used to be an island in the sea , now it is a higher part in this low land, and a world heritage site.
